GIVING OPPORTUNITIES

ANNUAL FUND

  • A yearly effort that begins in the fall and concludes on June 30 of the next year
  • Raises unrestricted funds for the School’s operating budget
  • Helps bridge the approximately $8,000  gap between tuition and the actual cost of each student’s education for one year
  • Raises funds that are used immediately for the critical needs of the School in the current school year
  • Pledges and gifts are made in one fiscal year (July 1–June 30)

THE HOCKADAY PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION BENEFIT

  • A yearly effort in the spring
  • Organized by The Hockaday Parents’ Association
  • Raises restricted funds for The Ela Hockaday Endowment Fund for Faculty Excellence, which supports professional development and faculty salaries, or for another specific need of the School. For instance, in 2018 and 2019, funds were designated to help build a new permanent facility for the Hockaday Ann Graves Child Development Center
  • Funds benefit the School both today and in the future
  • Pledges and gifts are made in one fiscal year (July 1–June 30)

PLANNED GIVING

  • A sustained multi-year effort that allows for giving through a variety of vehicles outlined further at https://hockaday.planmygift.org/ (e.g. through a will, trust, life insurance, or retirement plan)
  • Funding priorities include the endowment and planned giving designated to the greatest needs of the School or the areas of the School that match the interests of the donor
  • Provides a bridge to the future for the School

ENDOWMENT GIFTS

  • A sustained multi-year effort that began in the 1960s
  • Funding priorities include general endowment, financial aid, and faculty support
  • Endowment ensures the long-term growth and financial security of the School
  • The Investment Committee of the Board of directors works to preserve the purchasing power of the endowment, while also providing a sustainable and predictable flow of funds directly to the annual operating budget
